Walking through the door of creaturehouse, your eye is instantly caught by the piercing stare of golden eyed Barking Eye; the centrepiece of a gorgeous mural created by world renowned nature artist Steve Morvell. Morvell spent over 20 hours intricately composing the mural based on his sketches from a lifetime in the field.

creaturehouse ranges a comprehensive selection of natural history, wildlife, science and environmental book titles for the intrepid enthusiast and those with just a casual interest.

Their mission is simple; to ‘positively promote nature’ and inspire their visitors to learn more about the natural world.

Imaginations run wild in the Explorer Corner, a children’s section created to replicate an old Explorer Shack. Classic titles such as Possum Magic and Wombat Stew sit beside fun and educational non-fiction titles. The store also stocks a fantastic range of engaging educational nature toys and science kits for the budding adventurer, as well as sustainable giftwares such as the popular Bokashi Bucket, an easy to use kitchen compost system, and the Sun Jar, voted one of Australia’s best gifts in recent years.

However, creaturehouse’s biggest attractions are their amazing custom made animal enclosures. The only commercial business to receive a display license from the Department of Sustainability and Environment outside of a zoo or wildlife park, you can get up close to prehistoric looking Southern Angle Headed Dragons, the endangered Growling Grass Frogs and cute Mitchells Hopping Mice.

What better way to learn about these wonderful critters than to see them in amazing real-life-like displays and walk away with a better understanding of the natural world. Don’t forget that feeding time is 2.30pm daily….
